Celebrate a milestone anniversary with the Red Stick Farmers Market this Saturday, November 5.  In honor of BREADA and the market’s 20 years of connecting local farmers and consumers, the downtown market will offer live jazz music, kids’ activities and a 10 a.m. cooking demonstration from Ruffino’s executive chef Peter Sclafani in addition to the usual fresh finds. BREADA board members will cut the anniversary cake at 9 a.m. while recognizing co-founder Suzanne Turner (check out a recent inRegister story on Turner’s exquisite landscape architecture work here). And Creole bloody marys and satsuma mimosas will be available for purchase.

At the same time and place, the Baton Rouge Arts Market will be celebrating its 18th anniversary. Market hours are 8 to 11:30 a.m.; the market is located at the intersection of 5th and Main streets.

The anniversary fun continues at the other Red Stick Farmers Market locations throughout November: The November 10 market at Exxon/Mobil YMCA on Howell Boulevard will feature a chef demonstration by food blogger Alice Womble. Chef Celeste Gill will demonstrate one of her savory dishes at the LSU Health Clinic on Airline Highway November 16. The November 17 market at Pennington Biomedical Research Center will feature a demonstration by Daniel Thompson of D’Agostino Pasta.

Pictures will be taken between 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and CAAWS will offer free micro-chipping from 1 to 4 p.m. while supplies last. Bring 4 non-perishable food items for 10% off your photo package.


Two Blondes will host a trunk show for Bellemonde Luggage today and tomorrow, November 3 and 4. Purchases made during the show can be personalized at no charge. Summer Steinfeld will also sell her handcrafted jewelry on Friday, November 4, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.


Ashley Monaghan and Sydney Blanchard of MONA.CO, a locally based creative agency, will launch their experiential design services with a Denim Bar Happy Hour at Time Warp Boutique today, Thursday, November 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. Stop by to sip signature rum cocktails while Ashley, Sydney and the Time Warp staff help you find the perfect pair of fall denim, which you can also personalize with patches onsite.


1010 Nic will celebrate a successful first year of business today, Thursday, November 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. All the businesses at 1010 Nic (Monochrome, Contemporain Gallery, Denicola’s, Noelie Harmon, Jeannie Frey Rhodes, The Front Door and Mercer Supply) will be participating, and guests can enjoy food, cocktails, special promotions and live music by Bon Bon Vivant while they shop.
