The word “carol” comes from the Old French carole, a circular medieval dance accompanied by joyous, festive singing—perfect, then, for the French culture and musical heritage of our own home state. Even with no snow on the ground or many coats to bundle up in the tolerable 60-degree cold, no holiday season would be complete without a Christmas carol or two, especially in the company of friends and neighbors.
