Our February issue cover story features a lakeside home full of rooms with a view

Its position on a peninsula along University Lake makes the home of Jen and Jason Borné one of the most recognizable on the picturesque path. But dedicated walkers, bikers and stroller-pushers might have noticed a major change at this residence over the last couple of years. Beige stucco was banished and a wrought-iron balcony railing went bye-bye, and in their place came a classic but clean-lined white exterior set off by lush new landscaping. The inside got a major overhaul as well, with new open-concept spaces allowing the young family who now calls this place home plenty of space to play and to connect–and to take full advantage of those stunning lake sunrises and sunsets.

The project–led by builder Russell Alleman of Manchac Homes, along with architect Dwayne Carruth of The Front Door Design Studio and Anne McCanless of Anne McCanless Designs and Chris Graham and Ricardo Agra of Scapes–and its picture-perfect end result are the focus of inRegister’s February 2022 cover story. “I can’t explain it,” Jen Borné tells us, “but it feels like this house was meant for us.”
