John and Marty Engquist do not subscribe to the one-dimensional idea that a person, or couple, must have a singular personality. A singular way of life that suits them best. Instead, the Engquists have taken their passions and poured them into two homes–a ranch in Clinton and a four-story townhouse in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge–that echo completely different sides of the couple’s life together.

“I’m a country boy at heart,” says John. “I’ve been an outdoorsman forever, hunting and fishing… But I also love the urban lifestyle.”

Teaming up with interior designer Becky Walker, John and Marty have transformed both residences into eye-catching examples of the duality of their lifestyle. With the downtown home filled with mirrors and clean-lined elegance, and the Clinton ranch making room for horses, dogs and other rescue animals, the two homes demonstrate how town and country can come together.
