Simply Southern: Two takes on an outdoor wedding under the Louisiana oaks

For many engaged couples who chose to get married during the past year, an outdoor reception wasn’t so much a choice as it was a necessity. But as Angela DiVincenti Babin of Angela Marie Events proves in the two wedding inspiration scenes shown here, it’s hardly a sacrifice to host your nuptials in an al fresco setting—especially when that setting is the stunning and uniquely Southern backdrop found in our own backyards.

Decades-old live oaks? Check. Temperate weather nearly any time of year? Check. All that’s left is to add elegant touches that suit your bridal style. In the scene shown on this spread, Babin went with vibrant yellow roses and trailing vines inspired by the ones growing on the tree itself, along with neutral striped table linens and ribbon bows woven throughout the decorative details. Read on and you’ll see a wedding table topped with pale pink and white roses and an abundance of baby’s breath; above it all is a silken swag that hangs from a branch like the fanciest bit of Spanish moss. It’s a magical take on the micro-wedding trend.
