Court & Layne coming to BR
Court & Layne Boutique, a Gonzales shop that sells clothing and accessories, has plans to expand into the Baton Rouge area by October of this year. April Prejean, who opened the store about eight months ago, says she is excited about the development surrounding downtown Baton Rouge. “The area has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and bars and hotels,” she says. “But the shopping is lacking. I’m excited to be able to bring that to Baton Rouge.”
Prejean says her customers range in age from 12 to 85. The former Shell employee who grew up in north Baton Rouge says the store is her baby. From the beginning her plan has been to grow and expand, she says. Though no downtown location has officially been secured, Prejean is aggressively looking.
“We are definitely going to be downtown,” she says. “We are not taking no for an answer.”
Chaser trunk show
Hemline Baton Rouge is hosting a Chaser summer trunk show for two weeks starting Monday, June 1. The contemporary clothing line brands itself as “dedicated to the evolution of style,” “leaning toward the direction of European taste-makers tempered with a casual modernity,” and where “art meets fashion.”
