This Saturday, June 4, the owners of Bustle Bridal Gowns and Accessories will celebrate the grand opening of Soiree, a new boutique focused on women’s casual, social and formal apparel. Located at 711 Jefferson Hwy., the store keeps a seasonal focus on homecoming, prom, Mardi Gras and formal wear, but offers a selection of women’s casual dresses, tops, shoes, jewelry, accessories and denim year round. Soiree is currently open for regular hours, but the grand opening means discounts, giveaways, refreshments, Champagne and personal styling tips throughout the day.

The Red Stick Farmers Market will present “Dairy Day” this Saturday, June 4, during the popular Saturday-morning market at the corner of 5th and Main streets downtown. The event is part of what the farmers market is calling “Fresh Fest 2016” and will feature seasonal cooking demonstrations, summer music, and Red Stick Sprouts art and gardening activities. This week, the owners of Feliciana’s Best Creamery will make homemade ice cream from their farm-fresh milk, Belle Ècorce Goat Dairy will offer samples of its fresh goat cheese, and patrons can try City Gelato flavors made with local ingredients.

The Baton Rouge Arts Market will also take place at the same location on Saturday, featuring more than 50 artisans with a variety of locally handmade items from pottery and blown glass to jewelry and hand-bound books.

The Salvation Army celebrates National Donut Day tomorrow, Friday, June 3, with sweet treats for customers. The event, which honors the “Donut Lassies” who sought to lift American soldiers’ spirits during World War II by giving them fresh-baked pastries, has been held on the first Friday in June for the past 78 years. Partnering with several local bakeries, The Salvation Army will give a free doughnut to every customer at its Family stores in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs and Gonzales on Friday.
