Listen to Your Mother comes to Manship Theatre

In anticipation of Mother’s Day, the Manship Theatre is set to host “Listen to Your Mother,” a crowdsourced show about motherhood, this Sunday, May 1.

“Listen to Your Mother” is the brainchild of Ann Imig, who also blogs and has a published book of anthologies based on the show and its past stories. It began in Madison, Wisconsin, in 2010, and it now plays in 41 cities and two countries for the upcoming holiday.

“I started ‘Listen to Your Mother’ because I had fallen down the mom blogging rabbit hole,” Imig told ABC News. “I wanted to bring that rich vitality and electricity and honest story sharing that was happening online to my community.”

The show features local writers and their stories about the trials and triumphs of motherhood. It’s sponsored by local businesses, and a portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to the Emerge Center.

Local moms Harmony Hobbs, Pennie Nichols, Brittany Rainbolt, Mandy Cowley, Melanie Forstall Lemoine, Melissa Thornton, Amy Zachary, Megan Diaz, Tiffany Dickerson, Stacie Davis, Jill Courtney, Zenobia Reed and Audrey Hayworth will share their stories.
