We’re trekking along our favorite hiking spots for this weekend’s National Trails Day

Living in a state below sea level means that we may not be able to summit a 14-thousand-foot mountain or hike through miles of deep valleys and meadows without leaving our borders entirely. But what Louisiana lacks in altitude it makes up for in unique and dense ecosystems across the state. From Gulf beaches to low swamplands to rolling hills, Louisiana is filled with numerous state parks across its diverse terrain. So put on your sunscreen and pack plenty of water and snacks for a Saturday exploring one (or a few) of Louisiana’s beautiful hiking spots in honor of National Trails Day on June 5.
