What to do this Weekend: Louisiana Book Festival

Louisiana’s 21st annual literary festival is near. The celebration kicks off this weekend, on November 1, in Capitol Park with a commemoration of the State Library of Louisiana‘s 100th anniversary.

Gathering various writers and readers, this year’s festival recognizes and shows appreciation for the vital role the State Library has played in education and civic engagement over the last century. “This centennial is not just a celebration of the past—it is a call toward a great future,” says State Librarian Meg Placke.

With free admission, the annual Louisiana Book Festival calls all authors, publishers and bookworms to celebrate literacy in our great state. The event will feature over 200 writers, scholars and poets who will host book signings, book talks and seminars. The festival will also feature exhibitors, cooking demonstrations and activities for teenagers and young readers.
