What to do: Gear up for football season at Sweet Baton Rouge’s Ultimate Tailgate
The month of August transitions Baton Rouge into football season. Back-to-school send-offs and game-day anticipations become reality, and “Louisiana Saturday Night” practically echoes through the streets. In preparation, Sweet Baton Rouge’s annual Ultimate Tailgate invites the community to shift back into all the usual fall festivities.
A true celebration of Louisiana culture, the event includes a jambalaya cook-off, local vendors and a live DJ at Perkins Rowe from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 22. Visit Baton Rouge is sponsoring the event, and all proceeds from jambalaya purchases benefit The Petey’s Scholarship, which is operated by Sweet Baton Rouge owner Meredith Waguespack, as well as friends Elisha Coates and Meagan Marsalis Stephenson, and supports students facing academic and financial challenges.
