New York Fashion Week may be over, but joyful dressing is just beginning

The final runway shows of New York Fashion Week have come to a close, and one thing is clear across nearly every brand: fashion is having fun. Gone are the days of quiet luxury, although you can always pair those staples with exciting pieces released more recently.

Favorite American fashion houses like Tanya Taylor, Carolina Herrera, Ulla Johnson, Staud and Tory Burch, to name a few, are embracing unique uses of texture paired with unexpected color combinations to create designs that feel like a shot of dopamine.

Intricate detailing like beading, lace patches, crochet and more creates artful looks that get the mind turning. And while this recent New York Fashion Week showcased the spring/summer 2027 collections, similarly playful pieces also appeared in the fall/winter 2026 collections.

Even better, you can already find plenty of fun items in local Baton Rouge boutiques. From a plaid midi skirt with artful beading to precious purses that mix colored feathers and beads with shades of brown for an unexpected treat, like a sweet combination of chocolates and candies.
