Take an Art Break next month with LSU MOA

On September 19, the LSU Museum of Art will host an afternoon of live music and a watercolor activity inspired by the work of Purvis Young at ART BREAK: Art as an act of SPIRIT.

Young was a self-taught artist who painted expressive works focused on the lives and histories of Black Americans, using whatever materials he could find.

This free wellness-focused program invites teens and adults of all skill levels to channel their Young-inspired creativity. From 1 to 4 p.m., guests are invited to unleash their creativity while enjoying live music by The Lady Deejay, Leah Smith. Spinning blends of the classics, she will create an eclectic and vintage set to soundtrack the afternoon. In addition, the Folk Art Gallery will host a docent, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the art and artists on display.
