Cookies by Freddie launches Louisiana’s first cookie truck
Since launching in 2021, Cookies by Freddie has shared the classic taste of a homemade cookie with Baton Rouge at local pop-up markets, as well as weddings and special events. Now, the old-fashioned comfort cookies are on the move aboard Louisiana’s first cookie truck.
“I started Cookies by Freddie during one of the most difficult times in my life, adjusting to new motherhood,” owner Frederique Bekale explains. “Baking became my therapy. The simple act of mixing and measuring helped restore my sense of purpose and joy when I needed it most.”
Soon, she was baking more cookies than her household could eat and began sharing them with friends and family. After eight months of perfecting recipes and gaining confidence, she launched Cookies by Freddie as a cottage bakery. “What began as a way to cope with the pressures of new motherhood blossomed into a business built on kindness and connection,” she says.
As she continued to innovate on the Cookies by Freddie signature style, which she describes as old-fashioned, classic and unforgettable, she perfected fresh flavors like lemon white chocolate, cookies and cream, and the classic chocolate chip. “Simply put, Cookies by Freddie is about going back to the basics,” she says.
When Bekale’s best friend encouraged her to think outside the box for the next phase of her business, the idea of a cookie truck began to emerge. “As a mom and small business owner, flexibility is everything,” she says. “The truck offers freedom, lower overhead and a fun, one-of-a-kind way to bring Cookies by Freddie directly to the community in an unforgettable way.”
The cookie truck operates as a traditional food truck, arriving at public pop-ups across the Greater Baton Rouge area, as well as private events such as weddings, birthday parties, and corporate celebrations.
