From the August issue: A midcentury masterpiece

Susan Martone didn’t always like the midcentury modern aesthetic of the home she and her husband purchased 15 years ago. But everything changed when she developed an appreciation for walnut wood, a staple material of the midcentury modern look. As if overnight, Martone jumped into redecorating the house to suit its original vibe, scouring the city for pieces ranging from the 1960s to the 1980s.

“It’s so funny that I thought I loved antiques,” she says, “but now I look at them and think, ‘Womp womp.’”
