Put your best paw forward at the CAAWS Mystic Krewe of Mutts Parade this Sunday

Since 1979, the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society has been providing for Baton Rouge’s furry friends—and for the past 23 years, it’s also been parading for them. This Sunday, February 13, get “Back in the Saddle” (this year’s theme) for the annual Krewe of Mutts Parade, a pet-friendly Mardi Gras event held downtown in tandem with Bark in the Park, a morning filled with vendors, food trucks, a pet costume contest, and more. The event has long been the biggest fundraiser of the year for CAAWS, with proceeds benefitting its spay and neuter programs.

Anyone with a preening pup looking to strut its stuff can still sign up to participate in the parade, though they’re also more than welcome to salivate from the sidelines. Bark in the Park will take place at North Boulevard Town Square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the parade rolling at 2 p.m.
