Warm Welcome: A pre-wedding celebration at Jubans

With guests converging on Baton Rouge from around the country and the world, bride Allison Kamp and groom Richard Pellman didn’t think a traditional rehearsal dinner with just the wedding party seemed right. Wanting to open the invitation to all of their friends and family, they opted for a welcome party at Jubans.

“They wanted that classic Louisiana look,” event designer Tiffany Pilgrim of August Events says. “The Hallelujah Bar and attached patio was the perfect option.”

With orders to “surprise us” from the couple and their families, Pilgrim and her team took to transforming the space, using the event’s date, April 28, as inspiration for the vibrant, spring-inspired color palette.

Starting from the statement blue velvet linens from Nüage Designs, the bright flower arrangements were designed by Forage Floral Design utilizing some locally grown blooms. Bold was the directive from the August Events team, and Forage’s Meredith Cooper delivered with modern arrangements that brought life to the space.

Another detail that set the tone for the event was live music by John Gray and his jazz trio.

“We all knew we wanted live music,” Pilgrim explains. “John’s swag perfectly matched what we were going for with this event.”

And with old fashioneds flowing and a variety of passed food and buffet stations, the event was a lighthearted way to kick off a weekend full of wedding celebrations.

“Everything went off perfectly,” Pilgrim says. “It was just a great event.”

To capture the fun, HD Photobooth was enlisted alongside the couple’s wedding photographers, The Rylands Photo Co.
