Can’t Miss for Breakfast: Red Dog Diner on Magazine Street. I absolutely love the crab cake Benedict and bananas foster French toast. If you are looking for more of a low-key type of breakfast, I also recommend Elizabeth’s in the Bywater. The praline bacon is a must!

Try Small Bites At: The Wine Bar at Emeril’s is one of my favorites. My favorites are raw oysters, BBQ shrimp, seafood gumbo and rigatoni Bolognese. The food has the signature Emeril’s touch, and it is just half the price.

After-Dinner Drink Destination: Depending on where I am in the city, I love going to the Columns Hotel bar or the infamous Carousel Bar in Hotel Monteleone.

Place to Dance the Night Away: 30/90 on Frenchman Street. Downstairs plays live music, and upstairs always has a DJ.

Touristy Attraction Worth the Hype: I don’t care what anyone says; I’ll always love going to Café Du Monde. It’s a nostalgic staple from my childhood, and nothing beats a fresh plate of beignets and a café au lait.

Adventure Off the Beaten Path: Mosca’s, located just outside of New Orleans, is always worth the drive. This old-school Italian restaurant has been a local legend since it opened in 1946. Family-owned and tucked away on a quiet stretch of Highway 90 in Westwego, it offers fantastic Italian food. It’s important to know that it is cash only!

Locale for Lunch: Queen Trini Lisa, a Trinbagonian island soul food restaurant located on D’Hemecourt Street

Spot for a Sweet Treat: Parish Parlor, a from-scratch, small-batch ice cream parlor in the Lower Garden District

Place to Dance the Night Away: The Maison on Frenchman Street, which has nightly dinner and jazz

Slow Afternoon Activity: Head to Royal Street to wander the galleries, specifically check out the Historic New Orleans Collection and M.S. Rau Antiques.

An Adventure Off the Beaten Path: Check out Siberia for live music and to eat at its kitchen, which features re-imagined Cuban and Honduran bites from Que Pasta NOLA.

Dinner Destination: Dakar NOLA on Magazine Street for Senegalese or Vyoone’s on Girod Street for French

Try Small Bites At: Compère Lapin, which combines traditional New Orleans cuisine with Caribbean influences. For comfort food, IssaSnack Express. And for Sunday brunch, Nice Guys Nola or Headquarters, which are owned by the same people.

Spot for a Sweet Treat: Lagniappe Bakehouse, Saved by the Juice or coffee at St. Noir Café. King cakes at Antoine’s are brilliant during Mardi Gras. Buttermilk Drop Bakery has the biggest donuts and is off the beaten path.

Slow Afternoon Activity: Terrance Osborne Gallery or StudioBe in the Marigny. The Oretha Castle area is nice for a cultural walk. Baldwin & Co. bookstore is educational and worth the hype.

Adventure Off the Beaten Path: Daiquiri Chef in the East
