In a Pickle: Court to Table restaurant and pickleball facility opens in Baton Rouge

A new experience has arrived in Baton Rouge with the highly anticipated opening of Court to Table, a restaurant and pickleball facility that promises entertainment for all. With six indoor courts, five covered courts, other outdoor games like shuffleboard, live music performances and more, this new hot spot is hoping to stoke the flames of the pickleball craze in the Capital City.

Co-owners Gordon McKernan, Bob Barton, Ozzie Fernandez, Clay Furr and Destin Thibodeaux came together bringing their different backgrounds, professional experience and, of course, a shared love of pickleball to see this project through.

“This has been a huge labor of love. It’s been fun and challenging, but we’re happy to be bringing an experience like this to Baton Rouge,” McKernan says. “For me, it was important to try to bring something here that people can get excited about; like when you have an out-of-town visitor, you have a place to bring them with live music, activities, a great vibe and more.”

And the expansive site really does offer something for everyone, whether you’re athletic and competitive or just looking for good food, drinks and entertainment. In the center of the facility sits a large courtyard with casual seating, fire pits, a stage for music performances, outdoor games like cornhole and more. “There’s nowhere else in Baton Rouge that has a combination of all of this,” McKernan says.

Ozzie Fernandez–who also owns Izzo’s Illegal Burrito, LIT Pizza and more–spearheaded the food and drink menu, which includes items like fried pickles, nachos, tacos and pizzas, as well as healthy menu items like a grain bowl and chopped chicken Caesar salad wrap. “We wouldn’t dare do anything in the food and beverage industry without Ozzie by our side,” McKernan says with a laugh.

With lengthy business hours and plenty of courts to play on, guests are invited to reserve an indoor or outdoor court on the website. Learn more about the facility and its offerings by following along on Instagram here, or check out this story from our sister publication, 225 magazine.
