Hannah Hyman and Henry Bein brought West Coast guests to the Big Easy for a Louisiana style celebration

When Hannah Hyman and Henry Bein first started dating following Kappa Kappa Gamma grub, Henry would go out to whatever bar or venue Hannah’s band was playing at that night. Hannah, a drummer, says it was those early nights, and displays of effort and affection, that first won her over. After eight years together, and a move from Baton Rouge to California, where Henry is from, Henry popped the question at the New Orleans Botanical Garden while the pair were in town for a friend’s wedding.

“The jeweler called and said the ring was ready, and I decided I didn’t want to wait,” Henry recalls of the last-minute plans that fell together perfectly. “Her family was all there, and my family flew in.”

Following Hannah’s resounding “yes” surrounded by the natural beauty of the gardens, both families went out to dinner to celebrate, with the plan for a New Orleans wedding day already in their minds.

“I have always wanted a second line and all of those Louisiana touches,” Hannah says. “And Henry’s family loves Louisiana. Growing up, they would vacation in New Orleans, so having our wedding there really just made sense. It was fun to be able to show all of our California guests the culture of New Orleans and Louisiana.”

After touring what Hannah says felt like every venue in New Orleans, the couple landed on the art-filled halls of Jackson Square’s The Cabildo. Henry works professionally as an architect but is also a watercolor painter in his free time. The combination of breathtaking architecture and the building’s current use as a historical and art museum was the best of both worlds. The venue’s location, in the center of the excitement of the city, also sold Henry and Hannah, who wanted that quintessential Big Easy feeling.

“Our main goal was to just have a super fun, New Orleans-y party,” Hannah says of their October 18, 2025, wedding day. “What I remember most, and my favorite part, is that it felt like we were dancing the whole time. Henry’s 85-year-old grandpa even came and found us at like midnight to dance. We couldn’t believe it.”

Another surprise moment was when Henry’s father arranged for Hannah to play drums with the band, Souled Out. “It was totally not planned,” Hannah says, “but it was such a fun moment to have.”

From the second line to the impromptu drum performance, the day was a vibrant and lively reflection of the couple, their beginnings and the joy they are bringing to their next chapter together. And while they now reside in Santa Monica, the setting of their big day allows them to keep Louisiana close to their hearts always.
