4 weeks of Thanksgiving table ideas, week 3: Nesting Instinct

Inspiration for a beautiful Thanksgiving table can come from anywhere. But on a holiday where the meal is the star of the day, where better to start than with the plates?

That’s just what Angela DiVincenti Babin of Angela Marie Events did for this elegant table setting. Upon discovering a set of vintage EPIAG “Fantasy Bird of Paradise” dinnerware at her friend Stacy Harvie’s online shop Capitol Vintage Charm, Babin flew into action to find all the right touches to combine with its avian style.

Layers of texture and color on this table include a muted striped tablecloth, wood chargers, gold-rimmed glass chargers, and then those pretty porcelain plates. Talk about a flight of fancy!

The centerpiece for this scene pulls in the traditional pumpkins you might expect on a Thanksgiving table, but Babin added unexpected natural details including foraged greenery and roses and shades of peach and maple. To get the color scheme just right, she also used bleached Italian ruscus and even applied a special floral spray paint to dahlias to give them the perfect coordinating copper hue. Eclectic touches including wicker-wrapped chianti bottles from Rescued Revisions, candles from Anthropologie and fringed monogrammed napkins, complete the look.
