New blooms make their debut at Hilltop PlantFest 2016

LSU’s Hilltop Arboretum will host its 33rd annual PlantFest on Saturday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, October 2, from noon to 4 p.m. The fall plant sale offers the largest selection of native and adaptive plants at one place and time in the Gulf South.

PlantFest celebrates over three decades of bringing people and plants together in the unique space that is the LSU Hilltop Arboretum. Hilltop’s Volunteer Plant Selection Committee has assembled over 5,000 trees, shrubs, perennials and more that will thrive in south Louisiana gardens. These plants, some making their debut at Hilltop this year, come from a variety of nurseries in Alabama, Texas and Louisiana.

Landscape architects, horticultural specialists and other experts will be on hand to help with plant selections. The Hilltop Gift Shop, along with specialty craft and plant vendors, will also be offering plant-related wares.

Visit Hilltop’s website for more information and to see the complete list of plants offered at PlantFest 2016.
