On Exhibit: ‘Into the Greenhouse’ by Amanda Farris

A playful painting style creates popping palmettos on the canvas of a Baton Rouge artist focused on beautifying the bayou.

Artist Amanda Farris’ first solo exhibition, “Into the Greenhouse,” opened this past Saturday, October 3, with a reception at Kelwood Contemporary Art.

A 2023 LSU graduate with a BFA in painting, Farris continues to pursue her artistic passions in Baton Rouge. Through her eye-catching compositions, Farris has captured the essence of Louisiana’s natural world and the attention of wild art enthusiasts.

Her oil paintings feel like an embrace from a Louisiana jungle, as if the murky swamps have come to light and life through vibrant foliage and glowing flora and fauna. Farris’ use of pink hues in her depiction of greenery drenches leaves in a palpable warmth.

This exhibition will support KCA’s artistic mission by showcasing local artists who explore themes surrounding the human relationship with nature.

The event is free and open to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition ends on October 30.
