Party spotlight: Krew turned two with Winnie the Pooh
Plush toys, overflowing florals and custom backdrops laid the foundation for turning a family’s backyard into a Winnie the Pooh wonderland for a sweet second birthday celebration. Then, pastels paired with natural textures, including hand-woven baskets, clay flower pots and interspersed greenery set the tone.
Whimsical tablescapes punctuated by a yellow gingham tablecloth and an oversized honey pot set the scene for Krew’s second birthday festivities. Party Planner Sidney Carrier, owner of The Box Babe, designed the fête as both a nod to the parents’ love of Disney and their daughter’s fascination with Winnie the Pooh.
“We wanted to take the love and bring it to life in a timeless, vintage-inspired way that felt just as sweet and magical as Krew is,” Carrier says.
Guests followed custom signage into the Hundred Acre Wood, where the storybook magic came to life. Set amid the blue archway framing a roughly sketched map of the original fairytale land, Krew and her friends painted flower pots. Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore cutouts sat on the outskirts, as though they were visiting the party from their own little illustrated world.
Meanwhile, adults sipped themed cocktails like ‘The Hundred Acre Wood’ and ‘Tigger’s Espresso Martini.’ Once painted and dried, guests wandered to the table under the mossy oak to plant flowers in their new pots.
When it comes to choosing a birthday party design, Carrier says what really counts is creating something authentic to your child and their passions. “It’s about seeing that pure excitement in their eyes when they walk into a world created just for them,” she says. “You’re guaranteed to make memories that last a lifetime!”
“We wanted the entire party to feel whimsical and nostalgic,” Carrier says. “Almost as if you had just met Christopher Robin himself and wandered straight into the Hundred Acre Wood.”
For parents striving to create an aesthetic celebration based on their children’s favorite character or show, Carrier says the first step is knowing you don’t have to do it all alone. She advises never to underestimate collaboration. For this celebration, she partnered with balloon and backdrop artists, a florist and more to create a magical celebration that was both true to Krew’s interests and wildly cute. “The magic happens when everyone’s talents come together!” she says.
