Steal the scene: Texture and color continue to paper the walls and make an impact

Don’t call it a comeback: wallpaper has been around for centuries. But this interior accent has made a significant resurgence in recent years and can be found adding splashes of color to statement walls and ceilings as well as to entire rooms.

“Wallpaper is so hot right now,” says interior designer Shannon Mahon. “There are so many fun and fabulous options available. It’s a great way to create that ‘wow factor’.”

Check out some of Mahon’s choices of wallpaper to put the wow back into your abode.

“Chinois Palais” in blush conch by Mary McDonald for Schumacher

Inspired by the ancient art of Chinese silk designs, this wallpaper brings an exotic elegance to the formal space of a dining room. “It is the perfect shade of blush and is just so feminine,” says Mahon.

“Lotus” in mushroom by Galbraith & Paul

This bold pattern on linen brings personality into a room without overpowering it. “The hue is spot on and the pattern goes with just about anything,” Mahon says. “It’s stunning in the teeny-tinyness of a powder room!”

“Sigourney” in gray on white by Quadrille China Seas

“This oversized pattern is perfection!” says Mahon. The bold pattern makes a huge statement, but the color scheme maintains a sense of serenity and tranquility in a space. “It’s inviting and versatile and can be used in so many ways,” she says.
