And they lived happily four-ever after

Party planner Sidney Carrier, better known as The Box Babe, is used to spending her days helping clients create their dream parties. But twice a year, she gets to plan parties for her most special clients of all, her children.

For her daughter Joie Kate’s fourth birthday bash, Carrier knew it had to be something fabulous. After discussing with her daughter, they landed on a Disney princess theme: Happily Four-ever After.

Keep reading for a Q&A with Carrier about planning a perfect princess party.

What was the inspiration for the theme?

The inspiration came from my sweet girl’s love of Disney princesses (especially Belle and Cinderella). Taking a princess party and making it aesthetically pleasing without using your typical trademarked décor was challenging, but also very fun for me!

How did you translate the theme into the overall design?

I based it on three colors: pink (my daughter’s favorite color), yellow for Belle and blue for Cinderella! I drew inspiration from both of the classic Disney movies to incorporate into the party, and a little Disney World magic to create the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

What elements were most important in bringing the theme to life?

All of the little details. The mocktails from Sip Social had princess-themed names. Some of the décor was from my previous Disney trips as a child, which added a special sentimental touch. My husband made the “spools” of yarn out of electrical spools from his work. The real-life princesses being there was the highlight of my daughter’s little life.
