What to do this month: Alvin Batiste Jazz Society Series

With May being such a busy month full of graduation ceremonies and parties, weddings and more, it can be hard to plan a night of fun away from your other commitments. But if you can manage the added activities, there’s always something fun happening in Baton Rouge to get you out of the house.

On May 21, the Alvin Batiste Jazz Society Series is coming back to town and bringing along a lineup of concerts from various jazz musicians. These events will take place at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center’s Virginia and John Noland Black Box Studio through the end of the year.

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge created this program in honor of Alvin Batiste, one of Louisiana’s most prominent jazz musicians. Each month, a different jazz musician will perform, such as Bob Sheppard, Ed Perkins and more.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online prior to the event. For more on the Alvin Batiste Jazz Society, visit the Arts Council’s website here.
