February is the month of love. Sorry, we don’t make the rules! With Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, it’s time to start making plans for you and that special someone. A romantic dinner is always a safe option, but why not spice things up this year? Baton Rouge has several events planned for you and your boo, so read on to find out what’s happening around town this V-day.

Sweetheart Soirée at Independence Park

Start celebrating early with an outdoor movie night. BREC’s Independence Park is hosting a cinematic special with a showing of The Burial from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. this Friday, February 10. Enjoy wine and a movie in the company of your Valentine or galentines.

Champagne and Swing

Nothing says romance quite like a jazz concert. This Valentine’s Day, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is hosting its Champagne and Swing event at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center. Tickets are $35 and include a glass of Champagne and a performance by Joylanda “Kikki” Chapman with the House Quartet.

Parents’ Night Out at Istrouma

Can’t find a babysitter? This year, Istrouma Eatery and Brewery is offering childcare services during date night on Wednesday, February 14. For $12, your child will receive pizza, lemonade and childcare while you enjoy the evening with your special someone. Reservations can be made online or over the phone at 225-314-4199.
