While a kitchen may be the heart of a home, there’s nothing like unwinding in a luxurious master bath after a long day. Not to mention, it can really add to your property’s value if it’s done right. Ourso Designs is known for their stunning projects and this one is no different. We checked in with Richard Ourso and Logan Wheeler Ramirez to see what a difference an addition can make. This gorgeous master suite was a collaboration among the team at Ourso Designs, designer Anne McCandless and contractor Frank McArdle with Big River Construction.

Design mission:

“While the clients had found their forever home,” Logan says, “forever is a long time, and they wanted some help in transforming their space into one that they will be able to enjoy even as they age.” The first step was relocating the master suite from upstairs to down to be closer to their day-to-day activities.

BEFORE

—First, they added on the master bathroom and closets to what was the exterior wall. Then they transitioned the existing guest room into the new master bedroom.

AFTER

—The clients especially loved the addition of a beautiful curbless shower and separate decked tub, better features for aging in place.

—Based on an inspiration photo the client found, they selected a decorative backsplash tile to serve as a focal point in the room. The ledge was a thoughtful addition, finishing off the top of the decorative tile, and creating space for day-to-day items or decorative accessories.

—The marble countertops nicely complement the focal tile without taking away from it. The marble was also used in the deck tub and shower seat, cohesively tying the space together. Now, these clients have a timeless space that they will be able to enjoy for many years to come!
