On Exhibit: ‘Fiber Speaks’ at Kelwood Contemporary Art

The work of members of the Contemporary Fiber Artists of Louisiana will be on display at Kelwood Contemporary Art through December 14. From artful quilts and dynamic weaving to structural pieces and even dolls, this show, titled Fiber Speaks, aims to showcase the many different ways that artists express themselves through textile art and the diverse techniques they use to do so.

“The collaboration with Kelwood Contemporary Art offers an exciting opportunity for CFAL members to present work that pushes beyond traditional expectations,” Kelwood Contemporary Art owner Jennifer Carwile says in a press release. “This venue provides a platform for pieces that may not easily find space in other settings due to their scale, experimental techniques or provocative subject matter.”

This exhibit will be a testament to eye-catching art forms and creativity across the state, with the artists represented ranging from Avoyelles Parish to St. Tammany. A closing reception will be held on December 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. Visit Kellwood Contemporary Art’s Instagram page for more information on the upcoming exhibit.
