The organization celebrated 25 years at its“Memories in the Making” luncheon May 21 at Boudreaux’s.Connie Schneider, a family caregiver, gave a first-person accountof what that’s like. More than 15,000 in the BatonRouge area are affected by this disease. One of thehighlights of 2007 was the opening of Charlie’s Place, arespite care program designed to give caregivers a break, whileproviding cognitive stimulation and social interaction for those with mildto moderate Alzheimer’s or dementia. It is the only facilityof its kind in Louisiana.
