would be a memorable trip for our family and friends. The Thursday before our wedding, we arranged a kayaking tripto the caves of La Jolla. On Friday, Dev tookhis groomsmen and the ushers out to the water tocatch some surf. We also hosted a pink-themed bridesmaid’sluncheon (rosé wine and sparkling lemonade for drinks andpink flowers and pom-poms for decorations) at the housemy parents were renting, catered by a local chef. Rentinga house was a great decision for my parents, becauseit gave our extended family a place to stop byand visit. On the day of the wedding, there wasa lot to be done, but we were prepared. Ihad put together a detailed checklist and boxed up allthe little things we would need. A friend of mineserved as wedding coordinator for the big day, so Ihanded the box to him. Everything was ready. I wokeup early, had a cup of coffee and headed downto the beach. I took a deep breath and saida prayer. The day was finally here, and I didn’thave a doubt in the world. Plenty of preplanning freedme from worrying about details. And there was definitely nodoubt about my decision to marry Dev. The day afterour wedding, Alexis and Bud Thompson hosted an amazing Californiabrunch for all our guests at the Grand Colonial Hotel, with beach-themed centerpieces and handmade chocolate shells. It wasa great setting in which to say our good-byes.Everyone, even our DJ, remarked on how much they enjoyedour wedding weekend. And, of course, that was our ultimategoal.
