Young artists, we're talking to you! It's that time again. Baton Rouge General's fifth annual Children's Art Contest kicks off Sept. 2 and runs through Oct. 7. Kids from pre-K to fifth grade, get creative and get your best artwork in because 100 of you will be honored in December at the General's Children's Art Awards Ceremony and your artwork will be professionally displayed at the hospital (how's that for a portfolio?). Teachers and parents, call 763-4280 for art paper and more info. Participating schools get their paper in September and you can also pick some up at the front desk of both the Bluebonnet and Mid City campuses Sept. 2! The week ahead (pending Gustav stays away!) The Big Band Era-influenced evening features some of the area's finest chefs and caterers, music by the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble and a fab silent auction with all proceeds benefiting Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
