Bubble-ing to smell & feel great!

Young artists, we're talking to you!

It's that time again. Baton Rouge General's fifth annual Children's Art Contest kicks off Sept. 2 and runs through Oct. 7. Kids from pre-K to fifth grade, get creative and get your best artwork in because 100 of you will be honored in December at the General's Children's Art Awards Ceremony and your artwork will be professionally displayed at the hospital (how's that for a portfolio?). Teachers and parents, call 763-4280 for art paper and more info. Participating schools get their paper in September and you can also pick some up at the front desk of both the Bluebonnet and Mid City campuses Sept. 2!

The week ahead (pending Gustav stays away!)

Step up and eat!
We're assuming you have jumped on board Blue Cross Blue Shield's Louisiana2Step.com to get moving and get eating right (if you haven't, what's your excuse??). Now, it's even easier to commit to that latter part of the program with more than 400 Subways being on board as official Louisiana 2 Step participating restaurants. So, if you're feeling hungry, head to your nearest Subway for its healthy menu options. Find your nearest Subway, exercise tips and activity logs at Louisiana2Step.com!

Celebrate your day off!
Monday is a holiday ... woo hoo! Take the day to relax and then take in the Baton Rouge Concert Band's Labor Day Concert on the steps of the State Capitol. Grab a blanket or a few folding chairs and bring the family to the free concert which features everyone's favorite patriotic songs and other pieces.

A Big night out!
The evening of Sept. 4 promises to be a good one with the 26th annual Capital Chef's Showcase! The Big Band Era-influenced evening features some of the area's finest chefs and caterers, music by the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble and a fab silent auction with all proceeds benefiting Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge. The cherry on top is the exquisite Lee Michaels Champagne and Diamonds Extravaganza raffle!

So just WHO ARE Kiki & Kate?
When Katrina forced young Kathryn "Kate" Horn from her New Orleans apartment, aunt Kathryn Horn, known to all as Kiki, welcomed her niece into her Baton Rouge home and life with open arms. Their names may be the same but their respective viewpoints make for some comical sparring.

They do, however, have some common ground. They love being with friends; love to be pampered; love to go out; and they LOVE to shop. In general, they love life and stay on the cutting edge of the best Louisiana has to offer. This dynamic duo is in the best position to share tips of any kind, whether it be a great shoe sale or the hottest ticket in town.
