SHOP LIKE A CELEBRITY Hemline outfitted everyone’s favorite letter-turner Vanna White for the taping of “Wheel of Fortune” when in New Orleans last year. The boutique has also been featured in “Lucky” for the best places to shop in New Orleans and in their shopping manual as one of the “cool stores around the country.” STYLE FORECAST Hemline manager Muffy White goes for the comfort of leggings and tights and the versatility of straight-leg jeans. Also predicted on the style horizon are long sweaters to belt, oversized shirts and tunics. For the feet, peep-toe platform shoes, especially in suede and deep blues. The two colors to make a strong statement this fall … navy and black. ABOUT HEMLINE After opening five locations in New Orleans over 11 years, Hemline owner Brigitte Holthausen set her eyes on Baton Rouge. It only made sense with the question of “When are you going to open in Baton Rouge?” being raised time and time again by clients who would travel to the boutiques from the Baton Rouge area. After Hurricane Katrina, the opportunity arose and Brigitte grasped it full-on. Although three of the boutique’s locations closed in the wake of the storm, the original Chartres Street location and another on Magazine Street are still thriving.
