Paddle with your pet at University Lake; Last chance for early bird MPAC tickets

Paddle with your pet at University Lake

Friends of the Animals is hosting a unique event, Pets and Paddling, this Saturday, April 25, at the Milford Wampold Memorial Park at University Lake from noon to 2:30 p.m. Canoe rentals will be available for humans and their furry friends. The event is celebrating the nonprofit’s five-year birthday. Since its launch, nearly 2,000 shelter dogs have been adopted into loving homes. Those who attend can snag a picture with their dog, score a free bandana (for past adopted FOTA pups), and enjoy snow cones and Taco De Paco. Dogs currently up for adoption will also be at the event.

Last chance for early bird MPAC tickets

If you haven’t yet purchased your ticket to MPAC, you have until Monday, April 27, to do so before the price increases. Currently, individual tickets are just $50. The event, which sold out in 2014, promises to be bigger and better than ever. MPAC, or Music, People, Art and Community, will have each floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts transformed into a party with music and light bites. The event, hosted jointly by 225 and inRegister magazines, begins at 7:30 p.m. May 7. Those who go are encouraged to wear white. Starting Monday, tickets will be full price at $65.
