Celebrate Arbor Day

The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens will host its sixth annual Arbor Day celebration this Saturday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family tree plantings are scheduled with seeds donated from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Certificates with tree coordinates will be handed out to each participating planter. In addition, children can enjoy a visit with Smokey Bear, a hayride, a tree scavenger hunt, and story readings. Warehouse sale at Dixon Smith

Dixon Smith Interiors is hosting a warehouse sale that ends tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 16. The flash sale is in-store only. Those who go can snag up to 10% off the entire store and 60% off accessories and lighting. Customers can also take advantage of sofas starting at $595. The Lobdell Avenue shop closes at 4:30 p.m.
